Big Bash League 2021 is getting exciting with every passing match and we are just getting to the phase where the teams placed in the bottom half of the points table will need to get a move on. Brisbane Head announced themselves back in their last match and will be looking to rack some more wins in their upcoming matches. Melbourne Stars, on the other hard, have failed to bounce back after getting off to a poor start.
Up next in the competition, Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat are set to take on each other in what is going to be a high-stakes encounter for both these sides. They both are still languishing in the bottom half of the points table and this match will be a chance for them both to make a solid run towards the top half. This upcoming match is to be played on Monday, December 27th, 2021 at Brisbane Cricket Ground, Woolloongabba, Brisbane.
Brisbane Heat have gotten off to a start that is strikingly similar to the one they got last year. Despite getting off to a dreadful start last year, Brisbane Heat still managed to make a place for themselves in the knockouts and they will be eyeing a similar thing in this season as well. A win here in this upcoming match will bring them back into the thick of things and that is exactly what they'll be aiming for.
As it currently stands on the ladder, Brisbane Heat are placed at the fifth spot with two wins in five matches, aggregating to a total of 8 points. Coupled with that, they have a net run rate of -0.178, which is something that will improve as a bi-product if they are able to win a few matches on the trot.
Max Bryant, Chris Lynn, Ben Duckett, Sam Heazlett, TLW Cooper, Jimmy Peirson, James Bazley, Mark Steketee, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Matt Kuhnemann, Liam Guthrie.
Melbourne Stars have clearly underperformed in the season up until now and they will be kicking themselves. They got off the worst possible start, getting a record drubbing at the hands of Sydney Sixers. Bouncing back from that kind of win would have been difficult, but the Stars showed their character to rack two wins since then. Having said that, they have blown hot and cold in the tournament so far and will be looking to get a tad more consistent.
Despite winning two matches in the tournament, the Stars are placed at the seventh spot on the ladder with a rather poor net run rate of -1.551. It is just the time that the Stars would want to kick on. A couple of back to back wins will take them back to the hunt and that is precisely what they will be after.
Marcus Stoinis, Joe Clarke, Glenn Maxwell, Joe Burns, Andre Russell, Hilton Cartwright, BJ Webster, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Adam Zampa, Qais Ahmad, Brody Couch.
This is a high-stakes match and both sides will be under tremendous amount of pressure. Having the runs on the board first up can prove to be of vital significance. Also, batting isn't going to get any easier in the second phase of the match. Keeping all those factors into consideration, the captain winning the toss is expected to bat first.

We haven't seen many matches played here at Brisbane this year, but from whatever we have seen, we expect this to be a belter of a surface, at least to begin with. This is a surface that offers even bounce and good carry through to the wicket-keeper. With surface expected to slow down as the match progresses, spinners are expected to come into the game big time. Also, batting under lights here can be a bit tricky. The team batting first would be pretty happy if they are able to put anything over 175 runs on the board.

This is an important match for both these sides given the position they both are at the points table. Both are still out of top-four and a win here will push them back into hunt for the knockouts. With no one else firing consistently, Melbourne Stars still appear to be a bit over-reliant on Glenn Maxwell and that is something that the Hurricanes will know. Brisbane Heat, on the other hands, did exceedingly well in the last match and will want to continue building on that. Considering that and the other factors stated above, betting on a Heat win should be the way to go here.
Chris Lynn is one man who can take the game away from any opponent in a matter of minutes. He hasn't been able to get a big score in the tournament so far, but has looked good in almost all the outings he has had. He is certainly due for a big knock and we expect him to finally hit form in this upcoming match. Bet on Chris Lynn to be the top-scorer for Brisbane Heat.
The primary reason for the underperformance from Stars so far has been the lack of contributions with the bat from the likes of Nic Larkin, Marcus Stoinis, and Andre Russell. Glenn Maxwell, however, has looked fluent and will hold the key in this upcoming contest. He will need to be a bit more responsible today and we expect him to build his innings before going all-out. Given that, he should be able to score a personal fifty here.
