We are down to the last four matches in the group stage of the Charlotte Edwards Cup that is gearing up for an exciting finish. The competition is still well and truly alive in both the groups and upcoming contests are going to be all to fight for.
The next Group A match is to be played between Central Sparks and South East Stars. While South East Stars are good to qualify for the next round regardless of the result of this upcoming match, Central Sparks will need to win this one to progress. The match between the two sides is to be played on 30th August at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham.
Central Sparks may not have had a tournament as good as the two teams above them on the ladder, but they can certainly turn things around in their final group game. They would need to win this upcoming match and then hope for the Vipers to lose their match so as to qualify for the semifinals.
As it currently stands, Central Sparks are placed at the third spot on the points table with 12 points to their name. However, they have a poor net run rate of -0.513, which is not really going to matter hereon. They have been a little too inconsistent up until now and will want to kick off at the stage where it matters the most.
What works in their favor is that they are coming off three back-to-back wins in their last three matches and seem to be peaking just at the right moment. In their last match, they defeated Lightning by a narrow margin of four wickets. Chasing a total of 136, Central Sparks won the match with one ball to spare.
On paper, the Sparks have a decent side with almost everyone beginning to join the party. They have done remarkably well in their last three matches and will be brimming with confidence. South East Stars cannot afford to take them lightly in this upcoming contest.
Eve Jones, Marie Kelly, Gwenan Davies, Thea Brookes, Chloe Hill, Clare Boycott, Ria Fackrell, Issy Wong, Grace Potts, Emily Arlott, Anisha Patel.
South East Stars defied the odds to not only beat Southern Vipers in their previous match but also claimed back the top of the table slot. With that win, they ascertained their place in the knockouts and will be taking this match as the dress rehearsal for the semifinal that is going to take place over the next weekend.
With two wins in consecutive matches, the Stars have the momentum and will be confident to do well in the upcoming match as well. They are also placed at the top of the points table and have a terrific net run-rate of 0.992, which shows how dominating they have been. Besides, they defeated Central Sparks the last time these two teams met and that should add to their confidence as well.
On paper, the Stars have a terrific side that seem to be having all bases covered. They have an experienced middle-order that oozes class. Besides, their bowling attack is in stupendous form, and dealing with that is going to be incredibly difficult. If they can continue to perform how they have done so far, beating them is going to be colossal of a task.
Aylish Cranstone, Bryony Smith, Kirstie White, Chloe Brewer, Alice Richards, Kira Chathli, Kalea Moore, Emma Jones, Alexa Stonehouse, Danielle Gregory, Ryana Macdonald.

It is an important contest in the context of the qualification scenarios, albeit not as for the Stars but certainly for the Sparks. Both sides are coming off some terrific wins in their last few matches and there is little to separate the two sides on the basis of form. Having said that, South East Stars have a better-balanced and more experienced side that can come in handy in this high-pressure match. For that reasons and for the ones stated above, betting on a Stars win should be the way to go here.
