After a long group stage in the Finnish Premier League T20, we have finally come to the knockout stage of the tournament. Four teams are going to be taking part with an Eliminator between the 3rd and 4th placed team to start us off.
This means that the Helsinki Cricket Club (3rd) is going to be taking on GYM Helsinki Gymkhana (4th) in this match. Both the teams could not have come to the semi-final with any more different paths. HCC is on a five-match winning streak and is perhaps the form team of the tournament while HGCC has lost its previous three matches leading up to the Eliminator.
Do we have a surprise in store for us?
HCC vs HGCC Finnish Premier League T20 2020 Eliminator is going to be played at the Kerava National Cricket Ground, Kerava on the 19th of August 2020.
HCC has transformed itself after a poor start to the FPL. The introduction of Abdul-Ahad Qureshi to the top of the order has proved to be a masterstroke as he has been extremely consistent. He has 268 runs to his name from ten innings, an excellent record by any measure.
His consistency at the top has also taken the pressure off of some of the other senior members in the side and allowed them to play freely.
Aniketh Pusthay is finding his prime form at the just the right time of the tournament. He has 262 runs to his name from 10 innings and is going to be a big threat to all the teams HCC comes across.
With the likes of Ghulam Abbas Butt and Zahidullah Kamal in the side as well, HCC has a very good batting lineup and one that is certainly stronger than HGCC.
The bowling has been an uphill battle for HCC for this entire edition of the Finnish Premier League and that will continue. Zakiullah Kamal and Ghulam ABbas Butt are the leading wicket-takers but it is clear that HCC sees its bowlers more to defend instead of attacking.

HGCC is going to be very concerned coming into this match. It has been at the receiving end of some truly embarrassing defeats to teams that are much worse than HCC. The complete lack of runs from its batsmen in recent matches is not something that can be seen as an aberration anymore.
We know that players like Saif ur Rehman and Pankaj Saharan can bat but the runs have just not been coming. Brar SImranjeet and Faizal Shehzad are honest triers but we just don’t see them being match-winners.
HGCC needs one of its major batsmen to stand up and deliver if it has to have any hope of winning this match.
An area where HGCC is better than HCC is in the bowling department. Both Muhammad Ghawas and Faizal Shahzad have as many wickets individually as HCC’s top-2 combined. Jaleel Ahmed and ATti ur Rehman are not too bad either making it a total of four wickets having more wickets than the best HCC bowler.
T20, though, is a batsman’s game and it is going to take something special from this bowling attack to be able to stop the strong and in-form HCC batting.

No rain has been forecast for the Eliminator and that is very good news for the fans. We sincerely hope to see uninterrupted matches at this important stage of the tournament. The conditions are going to be in favor of the batsmen. The outfield will be quick and the pitch is going to be flat.
Expect a high-scoring match with a score of around 150 as par.
We don’t think HGCC has much of a chance in this match. It has lost form at a very important time and is going to be short of confidence. It's batting also seems seriously underpowered at the moment. Back the favorites in this match.
