Kennar Lewis and Charitha Asalanka continued to disappoint for the Kandy Warriors. We know they can be destructive but they have failed in the first two matches they have played this season. Without these two in form, the Warriors may find it difficult to get to match-winning totals.
Ahmed Shehzad scored a fifty but he is just too slow at the top of the order. His success could end up making things worse for the Kandy Warriors in the Lanka Premier League.
The bowling was not much better either. Sachindu Colambage picked up three wickets but the rest of the bowlers were just average. It was interesting to see that 8 bowlers were used and a lot of the frontline bowlers were left underutilized. This indicates a lack of conviction in the captain about his main bowlers.

An outstanding bowling performance from the Jaffna Kings was the backbone of its victory against the Dambulla Giants. Wanindu Hasarnag just cannot seem to stop picking up wickets at the moment and ended up three more in this match. Theekshana, Seales, and Lakmal all bowled well. The bowling attack for the Jaffna Kings seems to be quite superior to the one that the Kandy Warriors have.
It was good to see that the Jaffna Kings chased down 111 in under 13 overs. It showed intent and confidence in the batting unit as well. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was the only one that failed as Avishka Fernando, Shoaib Malik, and Tom Kohler-Cadmore scored runs.
Upul Tharanga and Thisara Perera are also waiting in the wings to contribute as needed.
We like the balance of the Jaffna Kings a lot and can certainly see it being one of the teams to beat this season.

The conditions have been very good for cricket and are expected to remain the same. The is flat and full of runs. Teams just need to get used to the pace of the wicket and can then tee off without any worries. We think scores of around 170-180 are definitely easily achievable.
We are going to back the Jaffna Kings to win in this match. They have a bowling attack that is vastly superior and the batting is firing as well. The Kandy Warriors have a big problem as their best batsmen are not firing at the moment. They are going to find it very difficult to compete until their form changes quickly.
