With Indian Premier League nearing its fag end, we are approaching the season of international cricket, be it men's or women's cricket. Sri Lanka's tour of Bangladesh is already underway as far as men's cricket is concerned but women's cricket is just getting started. Sri Lanka Women are all set to begin their campaign against Pakistan Women in what will be an important series for the two sides. The series will kick-off with 3 T20Is that will be followed by as many One Day Internationals. The first match of the tour is to be played at the Southend Club, Karachi on 24th May 2022.
Pakistan Women's most recent outing was the ODI World Cup that was played a couple of months ago and they didn't really fare as well as they would have liked in the tournament. They finished right at the bottom of the ladder, behind Bangladesh Women and that loss would have stung them hard. They are coming into this series with weeks of preparation behind them and will be looking forward to a positive result.
As far as the T20I competitions are concerned, Pakistan Women have had a really torrid time, of late. They were defeated 5-0 by West Indies Women in a tour that followed a 2-1 drubbing at the hands of South Africa Women. A lot has changed for them since those tours and Pakistan Women would be hoping for a change in their fortunes as well. They have a decent side on-paper and if they are able to play to their potential, getting past them could prove to be incredibly difficult.
Muneeba Ali, Gull Firoza, Iram Javed, Bismah Maroof, Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Naseem, Fatima Sana, Tuba Hassan, Aiman Anwer, Anam Amin.
Sri Lanka Women may not have done as well in the recent ICC events, but they are certainly growing as a team at a rapid pace. Earlier this year, they emerged as the title winners in Women's T20 Commonwealth Games Qualifiers and will be looking to carry that form forward. Sri Lanka Women didn't feature in the Women's ODI World Cup that followed and will be desperate to make a mark here in this tour.
On paper, Sri Lanka Women have a plethora of talented players available, but they will still depend heavily on Chamari Atapaththu to contribute in bulk. She is coming off a fantastic run in Fairbreak Invitational Women's T20 Tournament and will be looking to build onto her form. In the bowling department, Sri Lanka will depend on Sachini Nisansala, who too can be pretty effective on her day.
All in all, Sri Lanka are a little over-reliant on a few players, but they all can be match-winners on their day. They would desperately want Chamari Atapaththu to come good in both departments and if that happens, Sri Lanka Women will be in business big time.

The two teams are placed next to each other in ICC Women's rankings with Pakistan occupying the 7th spot and Sri Lanka placed at 8th. That also speaks volumes about how competitive they could be in this match and the series. Both sides have not had really bright fortunes against settled teams and there's nothing to separate the two based on form. On paper, however, Pakistan Women appear to be slightly better than their counterparts. Also, they have the home advantage, which can play a crucial role early in the tour. Keeping all those factors into consideration, we would be placing our bets on a Pakistan Women win and so should you.
