As we are nearing the business end in the Women's Big Bash League 2021, things are really getting exciting as far as the qualification scenarios are concerned. All teams are still pretty much in it and the results of the next few games will govern the set of four teams that progress into the next round.
The next match of the tournament is to be played between Perth Scorchers Women and Hobart Hurricanes Women on 6th November 2021. The match will be played at W.A.C.A. Cricket Ground, Perth. Both these sides have not had a campaign that they were exactly after and this match may well prove to be the kick-start they need. A humdinger of a contest is definitely on the cards here.
Perth Scorchers have had a lot of things not going for them in the tournament, but have still managed to perform brilliantly. They have been led brilliantly in the tournament and could prove to be the dark-horses of the tournament if things continue to pan out for them the way those did in the first half of the competition. If anything, they would want to be a little more consistent going forward.
For the Scorchers, the most important factor would be the performances from Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney, who both have more or less carried the team up until now. Having said that, they do have some very talented players available at their disposal, at least on paper. Marizanne Kapp and Alana Kings have done well with the ball so far and will be the mainstays for Scorchers if they have to do well in this upcoming contest.
All in all, the Scorchers have a decent side, but at the moment, they seem to be relying heavily on a couple of players. A break this long would have given them some time to deal with this and if they manage to come out on top of this, they will be a very difficult to face side in this tournament.
Sophie Devine, Beth Mooney, Chamari Atapattu, M Carmichael, Piepa Cleary, Heather Graham, Marizanne Kapp, Alana King, Lilly Mills, Taneale Peschel, Chloe Piparo.
Hobart Hurricanes Women were never the title contenders in the tournament and they certainly have not played like one. They are struggling to make a move in the competition and with two wins and six losses, they are sitting just about at the bottom of the table.
With wins over better seeded sides in the tournament already in the tournament, the Hurricanes have shown that they have the capability in them, but lack of consistency to execute things well is clearly hurting them.
On paper and otherwise, Hobart Hurricanes Women do appear to be a little over-reliant on their two wicket-keeper batsmen in Rachel Priest and Richa Ghosh. Mignon du Preez, as well, can do the damage but we are yet to see the best of her. If the Hurricanes can fire in unison in the upcoming match, they can certainly send a scare down to the Scorchers' camp.
Rachel Priest, Naomi Stalenberg, Mignon du Preez, Nicola Carey, Richa Ghosh, Molly Strano, Ruth Johnston, Sasha Moloney, Tayla Vlaeminck, Belinda Vakarewa, Amy Smith.

Both sides have had contrasting runs in the competition so far and their respective positions on the points table are evidence enough of that. While Hobart Hurricanes Women have a capable side, they have not played at their peak potential yet. However, the Scorchers have been brilliant despite some of their players not being firing. Considering that and the other factors stated above, betting on a Scorchers win makes all the sense in this upcoming contest.
