IPL 2021 has thrown up some very exciting matches so far and the fact that teams are playing their matches at neutral venues has thrown up some unique challenges for them. Two teams that we believe are pretty well-suited to play in high-scoring conditions are going to be playing against each other at the Wankhede, Mumbai (the highest-scoring venue in the IPL).
Rajasthan Royals nearly chased down 221 in their match against Punjab Kings, falling short of just 4 runs in the end. Delhi Capitals chased down a small total against CSK with ease and showed just why they are considered to be one of the front runners for the title in IPL 2021.
Which of these two is going to come out on top?
Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals IPL 2021 is going to be played at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on the 15th of April 2021.
Rajasthan Royals have suffered a massive blow to their campaign as Ben Stokes has been ruled out of IPL 2021 due to a broken finger. With Jofra Archer already having been ruled out, RR is without its two best players of the squad.
That means an opportunity for one of Liam Livingstone or David Miller. We think RR is going to go with David Miller but we would much rather see Liam Livingstone get a game. Not only does Livingstone have the special ability to be able to hit sixes from ball one but he can also bowl some overs if needed.
RR’s batting in the previous match was good largely because of Sanju Samson. He hit his third IPL century but could not get his team over the line in the end. Still, his form bodes well for RR in the upcoming matches.
Jos Buttler will have a big role to play in the following matches and he will probably move to his preferred opening position. RR’s batting looks a bit thin at the moment compared to a team like Delhi Capitals.
Chetan Sakariya was impressive in the previous match but overall, most of the bowlers from RR were expensive. Mustafizur Rahman, Shreyas Gopal, Chris Morris, and the rest were not at their best and will need to improve their execution in the upcoming match.

Delhi Capitals played their opening match without two of their best bowlers and the balance of the team looked a bit off. Yet, they ended up winning the match with ease and that is a big positive for them.
We expect Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada to be available and come back straight into the team. That means Chris Woakes and Tom Curran will miss out. Nortje and Rabada were brilliant for DC in the previous season and they will be happy to be starting at the Wankhede where there is some bounce on offer.
DC’s batting is a bit unbalanced as well. Ajinkya Rahane does not really have a place in the team if he is not opening the batting. Also, the batting is only up until number 6 and the team lacks a strong powerful striker towards the end of the inning.
This means that DC is very vulnerable to early wickets and could end up collapsing if a bowler gets on top of them. We would love to see Steve Smith in the team but that would probably have to come at the expense of Shimron Hetmyer.
A strong start and a strong squad make DC the favorite for this match but they have a lot of questions to answer as well.

The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. There is no question about that since Wankhede is a very difficult ground to defend at.

The weather is going to be pretty good for cricket although a bit on the humid side. The pitch has been brilliant for batsmen and just full of runs. 190 was chased down by DC with 10 balls to spare in the first match here and RR almost chased down 221 in the next.
Expect a lot of runs to be scored in this next match as well.
We think the team batting first would like 200-210 at the very least while batting first.

We are going to back the Delhi Capitals to win this match against the Rajasthan Royals. There are dangerous players on both teams butRR seems to be a bit too reliant on Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson at the moment. A better bowling attack and more depth in the batting lineup than RR gives DC the edge.
