It's been an incredible last month for cricket fans as we witnessed so many mouth-watering contests in a short stretch. The thing that made it even better is that some of those matches had legends performing at their best in the ongoing Road Safety World Series. The series started rather slowly but picked up the pace and the last few matches have been truly magnificent.
We are now down to the last couple of matches in the tournament and they both promise to be two cracking games. The upcoming match is the second semifinal, which is to be played between Sri Lanka Legends and South Africa Legends. The match will be played at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur, on March 19th, 2021. India have already qualified for the grand finale and the winner of this match will meet India in the final, which is to be played on Sunday.
Finishing at the second spot on the table, Sri Lanka have arguably been one of the best sides of the tournament and their recent results are evidence enough for that. From a total of six matches played in the group stage, Sri Lanka won five and their only loss came against India, who are already in the finale. Had the standings been decided on the basis of net run-rate and not on head-to-head in case of tie, the Sri Lankans would be on the top of the ladder.
Having said that, Sri Lanka have already qualified and their position on the points table no longers matter. Sri Lanka are coming into the semifinal on the back of a fantastic exhibition of cricket in their last few matches. Their performance in the previous match, in particular, was stand-out as they rampaged past England Legends in under eight overs.
Chasing a total of just 79, Tillakaratne Dilshan was spectacular as he himself scored 61 runs off just 26 deliveries. He has also been pretty consistent with the ball and picked up four important wickets to rock England in that game. Spinners are certainly Sri Lanka's strength with the ball and given the way the surface has started to behave, this could play to their advantage in the upcoming match.
On paper, Sri Lanka Legends have a terrific squad having an excellent amalgamation of explosiveness and stability. The likes of Dilshan and Tharanga are in terrific form with the bat and will be their trump cards in the upcoming match. As has been the case in the tournament, beating Sri Lanka will be mighty difficult.

With a terrific win over Bangladesh in their last group game, South Africa stormed into the semi-final and will be looking to take the momentum they have count. They finished the league stage with four wins in six matches with their best win coming in their last group match. Also, it will not be wrong to say that the Proteas improved with every passing game and can very present Sri Lankans with a tough challenge on Friday.
Against Bangladesh, South Africa Legends produced an all-around performance as first the bowlers restricted Bangladesh to a manageable total and then their openers did the rest of the stuff with significant ease. Chasing a total of 161, Andrew Puttick and Morne van Wyk were terrific as they overhauled the total without any damage and with four balls to spare. South Africa's opening pair is going to be their biggest strength in the upcoming contest.
With the ball, South Africa do not really have the kind of firepower or experience they'd have ideally wanted to have. While they are well capable of picking up wickets, it would be interesting to see how they do when under the pump. If their bowlers manage to keep Sri Lankan batsmen in check, the Proteas will be in business big time.

This is a knockout fixture and pressure will be running high. The equation between the Proteas and the knockouts has never been good and the Proteas will be looking to change that equation with a win in this upcoming match. Overall, Sri Lanka have done better than Proteas in the tournament so far and their position on the points table reflects that. Having said that, South Africa have improved with every passing match and might well be at their best in the upcoming match. Taking everything into consideration, Sri Lanka appear to be a better-balanced side between the two. They also have momentum, which could be a crucial factor in the shortest version of the game. For those reasons, betting on a Sri Lankan win should be the way to go here.
