After a long tussle that lasted for around a month, we finally have the top-four teams in the Caribbean Premier League 2021. It was a tight finish at the end as Trinbago Knight Riders managed to edge past Guyana Amazon Warriors to finish at the top of the ladder.
The Knight Riders will be up against St Lucia Kings in the first semi-final of the tournament in a match that is expected to be a cracking contest. The match will be played at Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre, St Kitts on 14th September 2021.
Trinbago Knight Riders had a topsy-turvy run in the competition, but with some scintillating performances in their last few matches, they seem to be peaking just at the right moment. With six wins in ten matches, they finished with 12 points to their name - just like two other teams. However, their terrific net run-rate of 0.700 ensured that they stayed above them on the points table.
The Knight Riders are coming off a fantastic win over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in their recently concluded match. Chasing a total of 148, they looked in control throughout the innings as they won the match by four wickets and six balls to spare. The fact that the Knight Riders have registered four matches out of their last five speaks volumes about how well they have done in recent times.
On paper, the Knight Riders have a side that can beat even the best when they click. However, in the tournament thus far, they have relied heavily on Kieron Pollard and he, in-return, hasn't disappointed. This over-reliance may very well backfire if things do not turn out to be as expected in the knockouts. Having said that, they have a number of experienced players available, who are all well-equipped to handle the pressure of a knockout. If they are able to come good, beating Knight Riders is going to be incredibly difficult.
Kieron Pollard, Ravi Rampaul, SP Narine, Colin Munro, Darren Bravo, LMP Simmons, Khary Pierre, Tim Seifert, Denesh Ramdin, Akeal Hosein, Ali Khan.
St Lucia Kings survived a narrow scare as they just managed to qualify for the playoffs. Had Jamaica Tallawahs not lost their last league game, the Kings would have been eliminated from the competition. Now that they have qualified, they have a bigger task at their hands to not only bounce back to winning ways but also defeat a side that is looking to be in terrific touch at the moment.
St Lucia Kings finished with ten points at the end of the league stage and had a pretty poor net run-rate of -0.159 and that speaks volumes about how lucky they were to qualify despite losing their last league match. However, in their league-stage campaign, St Lucia Kings showed that they have a capable unit that can triumph on any given side on their day.
In the upcoming match, however, they will be missing their star performer of the league stage - Faf du Plessis and that can prove to be a differentiating factor. We saw their other batsmen score plenty of runs in their last league games, but the experience of du Plessis would certainly have come in handy. Apart from him, the Kings do have some match-winners available, but they will need to come good for Kings to register a win here and qualify for the grand finale. If that happens, the Knight Riders will have their work cut out.
ADS Fletcher, Mark Deyal, Roston Chase, Tim David, Jeavor Royal, Alzarri Joseph, Rahkeem Cornwall, Wahab Riaz, Keemo Paul, Kadeem Alleyne, D Wiese.

This is the first knockout of the season and the amount of pressure on both these sides will be immense. The Knight Riders have experience under their belt and that can come in handy in the upcoming match. Besides, they have been in terrific form, of late. For that reason and the other ones stated above, betting on a Trinbago Knight Riders win should be the way to go in the upcoming contest.
Because all the matches have been played at the same venue, this tournament has not featured too many high-scoring matches. The surface has deteriorated and scoring runs has not been easy. However, we are likely to see a fresh surface in the knockouts and scoring will be far easier. Also, both sides have some terrific fire-power available at their respective disposals. Considering that, bet on the match total to exceed 300.5 runs.
Ravi Rampaul has been brilliant in this season and has consequently received national call to play ICC World T20 for West Indies. He would want to continue doing as well as he has done and will be motivated to do so. He bowls in the powerplay and at the death and will, therefore, have ample chances to pick up wickets. Bet on Ravi Rampaul to be the best bowler of the day for Trinbago Knight Riders.
